Recital General Information

  • All performers should arrive a minimum of one half-hour early ready to perform, with hair and makeup done, costume on. Doors open at 1:20 for dancers. Auditorium doors will not open until 1:45.
  • Please drop dancers off backstage with the class mom or teacher.
  • Videos will be available for purchase. Please see our website under the recital tab for a copy of the order form. Order forms will also at recital.
  • Also remember, absolutely no flash photography during recital.
  • If you purchased a ticket for your child, dancers from the first half of the show must remain backstage during the first half. Mid-way through the recital (check program for details), there will be a 15-minute opportunity for dancers from the first half to join the audience, and dancers from the second half to leave the audience and head backstage. Parents, please plan to pick up your dancer from the dressing room during the 15-minute window. With the exception of this 15-minute window, no dancers will be allowed in and out of the auditorium, unless there is an emergency. It is distracting to the audience to have the doors open and close multiple times during the show.
  • All dancers who view the show from the audience must have a ticket, regardless of the duration. (Dancers are welcome to stay backstage the entire show and watch the video stream.)
  • We will have a final curtain call, at which time ALL of the dancers will be brought on stage to take a final bow.
  • We strongly encourage you to plan to stay for the entire recital. It is disheartening for performers at the end of the show to perform to a half-empty house, as they have also worked very hard to bring the audience their best.
  • Please limit your exits and entrances to the auditorium, once the show has begun. Every parent would like to run backstage to congratulate their dancer, but it is very distracting to the audience to have the doors open and close. Please wait until the 15-minute window (above), or after the show, to collect or congratulate your dancer. If an adult does need to enter or exit the auditorium, it will only be allowed in-between dances.

  • Double-check costume, tights, accessories, shoes, etc.
  • Remember—gum, jewelry, nail polish are not allowed for dancers.
  • Please be respectful of others’ space around you.  Absolutely no running, chewing gum, loud voices, or any other type of disruptive behavior.
  • Label everything (NWDA is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.)
  • Bring water bottle and non-messy snacks for backstage (no snacks allowed in auditorium).
  • Bring non-messy activities (book, crayons, etc.)
  • Please inform and discuss with your children the behavioral expectations.
